Our Democratic Party

Barack Obama Logo

Welcome to the Democratic Party of Oak Park.  That's DPOP for short, which we pronounce Dee-POP!  We're one of the largest progressive Democratic organizations in Cook County, and we welcome Democrats from all walks of life, from all backgrounds, and with all sorts of opinions.  Take a look around our site, learn about our efforts, our candidates, our team, and our Committeeman Senator Don Harmon.  There are monthly meetings on the second Saturday of every month, and a MeetUp on the fourth Monday of the month.  You're always welcome at the Democratic Party of Oak Park.

About our Young Democrats:
As our local students get ready to go off to college, whether it is their first or last year, they have a chance to make a huge difference in November.  Please consider having your students register to vote in the state where they are attending school---particularly if this is a battleground state.  Every vote will matter as much in November as it did in those primaries!

At 4 p.m. on July 26, the Young Democrats will be hosting a cookout and meeting to discuss the summer and fall election seasons.  The Fruth Family at 645 S. Harvey is happy to host this event for us.  Look up our group and the event on Facebook.

Pictures of DPOP events:
Todd Bannor, "our" official photographer is always ready to take some great shots. He has covered events such as Day in Our Village, Senator Harmon's fundraising reception, the Unite for Change meeting at the Library and the 4th of July Parade. As photos become available, they will be posted on the photos section of the DPOP website.

We Love a Parade:
This year's 4th of July Parade had a great turnout of marchers as well as spectators. More than 40 people walked in support of the Democratic Party of Oak Park, Representative Graham and Senator Harmon.  Thanks to everyone who shared part of their holiday with us.

Yard Signs:
We are getting a lot of questions about yard signs. Many people have requested these and we are keeping the list. The plan, presently, depending upon cost and other factors, is to produce these signs locally. We will need to cover costs by donations.  September is our target date for delivery.  Obama yard signs are available on the website. www.barackobama.com, though there is a wait for delivery and cost is higher than we anticipate for our "own" brand.
